Digital Images: Deadlock
In the above statement, Stuart Walker of Digital Images explains why the game Space Station 3000 will not be released. However, "Deadlock" as a new Amiga game and "Wipeout 2097" as a Mac-port of the Psygnosis game are announced.

Development of Space Station 3000 has been canceled because the 2.5 years of development did not give any tangible results. The game was redesigned and rewritten again and again, but the nice ideas did not turn into results.

Deadlock is a Space Combat Simulator having its origins in Space Station 3000. The game will make use of many so far unpublished space vessels from Space Station 3000 and will be set in the 22th century. The game website has some graphics of the vessels, and more.

Digital Images also purchased the Macintosh license for Wipeout 2097. Details on this are announced for the near future. (sd)

Amiga Show in Cologne
The following message has been posted in the news section of Amiga Future on 28. October 2000:

«There will be an Amiga show taking place in Cologne this year!!! Unfortunately we don't have the time to post more precise information on this topic, today. It will happen from 9.12.2000 to 10.12.2000 in Cologne.

As said, comprehensive and actual information can be found here at the Amiga Future.»

Supplement 29 Oct 2000
Quotations taken from the Amiga Future-Site:

«As promised yesterday here now some more information about the Amiga show in Cologne:

Haage & Partner organizes an Amiga exhibition on 9th and 10th of December in the central placed Mediapark in the Cologne North town. Several known exhibitors have already promised the exhibition management to attend. There are no information about the seminars and events for now. Therefore we don't release anything regarding these.

But it is sure that the exhibition date will be at the same time the sales start of the amigaOS 3.9. The OS 3.9 will now contain a complete non cut down TCP/IP stack and many more new features.

We will soon be able to present an exhibitors list and many more details at this place.

The Amiga Future will of course attend the show.»

AudioCutter Cinema project file
To demonstrate the abilities of the AuioCutter Cinema the sample "Leaving" can now be downloaded using http://www.AudioCutter.de/download.html. In addition to that you can download the complete project file that was used to create this sample. This project file demonstrates the use of several layers as well as the creation of surround effects via the editable sound positions and the echo surround effect. The project itself bases on only two initial samples (with unfortunately medium quality). To reduce the size of the project file, it had to be scaled from 24 Bit / 96 kHz to 16 Bit / 48 kHz.

AudioCutter Cinema Voting Area
Your opinion is wanted. At http://www.AudioCutter.de/vote.html it is now possible to rate the quality and power of the AudioCutter Cinema and possibly express critics and suggestions for improvements. Virtual Worlds Productions is very interested in this feedback to improve AudioCutter Cinema furthermore. (sd)

ILBMdt v44.22
On 28. October 2000 Stephan Rupprecht has released the version 44.22 of his ILBM datatype. The ILBM datatype makes it possible to display images in the IFF-ILBM format. Rupprecht's datatype stands out for the capability of displaying HAM- and EHB-images on a Picasso 96-, CyberGFX- or similar screen in the correct colors. Additionally it possesses the ability of displaying 24bit graphics without a graphics card. Compared with the previous version an internal change has been made. As ramlib uses only a little stack all libraries are now opened in LibOpen() instead of LibInit().

Improved telnet.device Wanted
The telnet.device makes it possible to use BBS's via the internet. But because of existing errors this device causes so big problems for sysops that they gave in and now work with ftp-sites instead of BBS-sites though their appealing systems already existed since the early nineties.

It is feared that, if these problems aren't solved soon, all good Amiga BBSes will disappear.

When th device is ready Mads will collect money for paying off the work. Everybody who feels being able to solve the following problems may write to Mads@softhome.net.

Telnetd.device(all versions)
  • Locks up the whole system ,cause unknown
  • Speed is limited to XXXXX cps, even slower then telser.device
Telser.device(all versions)
  • Locks up single nodes ,cause unknown
  • Locks up single node if carrier loss by server
  • Speed is limited to 5xxxxCPS, 2 slow for xDSL.

Amiga Central Closed
Chris Korhonen wrote at ANN that Amiga Central has been closed.

«Basically, we decided it was no longer viable to continue the site. From our point of view the Amiga is dead, very little software and support. And Amiga's current plans may sound nice but they will either:

a) Never Appear
b) Apear, but, will not be anything like the amiga you know and love.

Which will leave amiga owners with some non standard hardware which is of limited use.

It was good while it lasted but it's time to call it a day.»

FPSE V0.08 Amiga Revision 5
Mathias Roslund released the version 0.08 Amiga Revision 5 of the Open Source Playstation Emulator "FPSE" (Free PlayStation Emulator) on October 27th, 2000. This is a minor update which mainly concerns people that have SCSI errors. In detail, following things have changed:
  • New: MDEC movies can now be decoded in gray scale which results in a speed-up. You can activate this option with -g.
  • New: Support for 24Bit-PSX-Screens. This should make MDECs look like the original on the console.
  • Change: The CD-Code has been changed. CMD_READ is now used instead of direct SCSI. This should work with all CD-ROMs. However only sektors with 2048 Bytes are supported. Games with different sector sizes will not work properly.

The emulator runs on PPC-Amigas with 32MB RAM, WarpUP V4, CGFX V3 and requires a PSX-BIOS.

CS&E Retireing from the Amiga Market
«Farewell from CS&E, Dear friends,
maintaining a commercial business in the Amiga market has become increasingly difficult. I don't just mean in terms of the poor sales, but in terms of maintaining professional communication and business relationships. I don't feel I am able to offer a truly professional service for the Amiga as I have failed on both these counts. I have made inproper comments on mailing lists and failed to attract developers to sign for CS&E.
As I have made the announcement before that CS&E would leave the classic Amiga but come back for the next generation, it is with regret that I have to say this time the company is leaving the Amiga to concentrate on the PC development.
Amiga Survivor will be continuing as a non-profit making magazine through the editorial staff but CS&E will continue to lend a hand in taking orders.
I wish the Amiga all the best and will be keeping a very close eye on all the developments as an eager customer.» (ps)

microsoft.com Whois entry at InterNIC
Hackers have attacked InterNIC:
Christian Kemp posted today at ANN, that the "Whois" entry of microsoft.com at InterNIC (the registration site for .com domains) looks currently as follows:

MICROSOFT.COM.IS.SECRETLY.RUN.BY.ILLUMINATI.TERRORISTS.NET
MICROSOFT.COM.IS.RULED.BY.HACKERJACK.COM
MICROSOFT.COM.INSPIRES.COPYCAT.WANNABE.SUBVERSIVES.NET
MICROSOFT.COM.HAS.NO.LINUXCLUE.COM
MICROSOFT.COM

Supplement:
Richard Koerber told us on ANF:
The InterNIC hack is a joke. The alleged "hacker attack" on InterNIC has turned out to be a misinterpretation of the result of the WHOIS query.

Heise: Alleged hack on microsoft.com a joke (update)
«The report is a canard. Seruriteam apparently did not make themselves familiar with the tools for querying the whois database before releasing the news. The clients do not only show the queried domain but all that contain the search string. If the query contains only the word Microsoft, you get several domains, among others MICROSOFT.FEARPENGUINS.CX. On a casual glance, the search result irritates: one might think, the entry was manipulated. An information contained in the search results states in such cases that it's several independent entries. Indeed the entry of the Microsoft domain remained unchanged - a joker from San Francisco has merely created sub-domains for the domain terrorists.net. In another entry, he pays tribute to Apple with APPLE.COM.IS.THE.CHOICE.OF.ALL.SELF.RESPECTING.TERRORISTS.NET.»

The new promotional edition of PPC680x0 (1.20) is available now. This is the actual StormC 4 release promo.

This StormC 4 release has a few new features added to it. The most important feature is the .fd file option. >From now on, PPC680x0 has a big list of .fd files to learn 68k library-call registers from. This means that it is actually possible to determine which function is being called: Only the registers used by this function are saved/restored to and from the 68k.

Merlancia Comments on Criticism
Merlancia Industries announced some hardware for the AmigaDE some days ago covering computers from Palmtop over laptops to PC-towers. This announcement caused some doubts. In the above statement, dated 22. October 2000, Ryan E. A. Czerwinski from Merlancia comments on the criticism.

Among other things it can be read that the release of the TORRO website took place to give the Amiga community an idea now of what is in development. For the COMDEX, in Phoenix, Merlancia announced the introduction of a working Hurricane prototype and invited to an arrangement for a private talk at the exhibition. They are working on the Hurricane board for eight months now. As expected release date for the Hurricane and the eClips they named the second to third quarter 2001. This date also depends on the release of the AmigaDE.

The complete statement caters to further nine subjects. (sd)

BlueRibbon Soundworks Inc. Is Alive ...
Alfred Faust wrote:
Nearly 5 years after the take over of Blue Ribbon Soundworks Inc. by Microsoft, I received the official permission from Todor Fay (the former boss) to post all of Blue Ribbon Inc.'s products for download on my newly created homepage. Until now, the software could only be (officially and legally) acquired if you happened to be a member of Compuserve.com (USA).

I'm very grateful to Todor Fay (and surely every other musically interested AMIGA-user does so) for this permission, because in my opinion programs even though those have great functionality never have achieved this level of user-friendliness. They fit so nicely into the AMIGA system that they run on OS 3.1 and on graphic-boards (promote with NewMode) without any problem.

Bars&Pipes can be expanded by its tools and accessories to such an extend that it is in a certain way "updatable".

My new homepage concerns:
  • Bars&Pipes 2.5 (German online-manual which is also downloadable as AMIGA-Guide)
  • DB-50XG (my Hardware-Hack, online and downloadable)
  • TriplePlay3.1 (the same)

    also planned or in preparation:

  • SuperJAM! 1.1 (z.Zt. only program and styles downloadable)
  • Rules for Tools (Toolscoding for Bars&Pipes - only as download for now)
  • Inovatools1 (Intuition-expansion - used in Bars&Pipes, SuperJAM! and The PachtMeister , only as download for now)
  • My own music made with Bars&Pipes - SuperJAM! - DB-50XG
  • and more
As mentionned above the site has a huge download-area where you can _l e g a l l y_ download all of Blue Ribbon Soundworks Inc.'s products. (ps)

EU-Commission starts Poll about Software Patents
"The European Commission has started a poll about patents on computer programs, so-called "computer-implemented inventions". Prior to this is the EU's fear that the lack of EU-standard provisions of law in this sector could slow down economic growth, competitive capacity and development of the internal market. The commission has asked concerned institutions, companies, the public, and the member-states to express themselves about a probe document from the commission's departements. The commission will state its final position concerning this subject around beginning of 2001."

Dreamworlds Development is Looking for One More Musician
Because Audun Evensen (our musician up to now) does not have enough time anymore we have decided to engage another musician. She/He should get along with each possible kind of music, work on time, be well up in editing samples and of course should be interested in games. Having a sampler, good hardware (PPC) and knowledge in English are advantageous but not necessary. Of course you are participated in proceeds from the sales. First (and urgent) music for Crossfire II is needed. Here is Techno or something like that sufficient. It`s all right if different kinds of music are used provided that it fits to hard action. :) I prefer stirring classical music but it is hard to handle with the computer. Furthermore some intermediate progression have to set to music (own format). After finishing CF2 (if a further co-operation is desired) we need right music (medieval, atmospheric, classical, sometimes rock music) instead of Techno for our next game called "Between The Lines", a role-playing in real time. Those ones who are interested in (or have any questions) please mail to stefan@dreamworlds.de with a demo work or state an internetaddress where I can find such a sample. A few information about yourself and your hardware configuration would be useful. (ps)

  • I think I isolated the problems with the Password being saved improperly, Capitalization and Spacing in ScreenName used for signon should no longer matter - I found that an Earlier built in data conversion was attempting a conversion anyway if spaces were used in the ScreenName in the Signon. I call the problem, the "amazingly growing password"
  • I also now restrict the length of the ScreenName and PassWord entry blocks to a maximum of 16 characters (Longest AIM will allow anyway. Not sure why I hadn't done this already)

AROS: Development Status
On oktober 11th, 2000 AROS has released a status report about the current status of this Open Source project. The changes concern mainly the AROS version for x86 computers.

Cleaning-up of the AROS source tree by Bernardo Innocenti, simple hardfile support of FFS formatted floppy disks (ADF) by Georg Steger, and better mouse support for AROS native/x86 by Tobias Seiler (mouse buttons work now). Georg threw in some additional code to change the position of the mouse pointer on the screen, and now you can move the window around. Since VGA.HIDD doesn´t support the XOR drawing mode, yet there is still some graphics garbage when you move the window, but that should be fixed, soon. (sd)

StarOffice-Sourcecode Released
Sun has released the source code of StarOffice as Open Source on October 13th, 2000. This is the pre-release of StarOffice 6.0. The further development of the package has been handed over to the OpenOffice-Project.

The source code is 400 MByte in size, and is available for download at the OpenOffice website for download. It contains 35,000 files which count all together some 9 million lines of C++ code. A Pentium III computer with 256 MB RAM and Linux would need some 20 hours to compile the package. The space required on the harddrive will grow up to 2 GByte while doing this. Currently supported are Windows, Linux, and Solaris. A version for Mac OsX, which is said to be still in an earlier stade, should follow.

Sun themself will still participate in developing the Office package in the future through their development department in Hamburg, and release official StarOffice versions basing on OpenOffice. Those will also contain components which Sun has acquired from thrid party companies and thus are not part of the OpenOffice package. These components include the spell checker, the thesaurus and the database Adabas D. (sd)

News about SView-Ports
SuperView is a well known graphics converting and viewing tool well knwon of the Amiga. The author Andreas Kleinert is working on porting SView to other systems, and publishes a status report:

The GUI preview of the planned WinSView tool kit still is at alpha state while subject of intensive development. Hence it still is not available, but by this you will get some initial impression on what it is about.

Development takes place on two levels:
  • 1. The underlying C++ class library for image handling (loading, saving)
  • 2. The program surface (GUI) in form of a MFC 4.1-based design
Both originally were developed using Watcom C/C++ - for the class library part and for testing it we use the Watcom C/C++ V11 ability to develop 32 bit software for the Win9x/NT character mode (DOS box), and for the GUI part BlueSky´s Visual Programmer is utilized.

But the design of the C++ classes is completely platform independent (e.g. regarding endianess) and suitable to be ported for a wide range of operating systems, e.g. certain Linux derives, BeOS or QNX. Additionally, no compiler specific C++ specialities are used ("baseline C++") and utilization from a clean C program is no problem.

Sure one ore the other usere already realized that the website of Harald Frank VMC is taken by foreign content. The reader is welcomed to a completely new pay system in the internet. As contact address jens@jschoenfeld.de is given.

Calling Harald Frank provided clearness. A heavy domain quarrel between Individual Computers and VMC is the cause. Until this is cleared up VMC will be accessible at http://www.usbshop.de.

At the title link you will find the following statement by VMC:

«10-11-2000Unbelievable, www.vmc.de was stolen!
As we had to realize this afternoon the owner of our domain was, pretending wrong facts, renamed to Mr. Schoenfeld by the internet provider Schlund.

The internet pages viewed at the domain which was up to now our domain, have nothing to do with our company, and also every e-mail to the addresses of VMC are sent to Mr. Schoenfeld directly, by-passing the mail secret.

Because of this we ask all of the customers to send their e-mails to our usbshop.de domain which means to you, just to change the name vmc.de into usbshop.de in the e-mail addresses for the next days.

According to information via telephone by Individual Computers Jens Schonefeld will use this campaign to force a better position of him to the company VMC Harald Frank regarding wholesale prices for VMC driver software.» (ps)

A Lot of Eternity News
Some things are changing at Eternity, but in main everything will stay the same: Eternity is and will keep being Amiga vendor, Amiga publisher, and distributor of Amiga hardware and software.

This news is most important:

The URL has changed!
http://www.eternity-computer.de from now on is the new online home of Eternity. Please change your bookmarks! Many thanks to Marc Albrecht for hosting the Eternity pages free of charge for several years.

To make getting used to the new URL more easy for users we have raised another of our popular special projects:
For orderings within the next two weeks the customer will get 1 DM discount on every of his/her order already placed in 2000. With this we want to thank our many faithful customers and want to give them a very special bonus.

EAsys! Servicepack 3
For the system enhancer EAsys! distributed by Eternity service-pack 3 was released. This fixes many little bugs, and automatic creation of icons is implemented. Who wants to learn about the other new features should get it soon.

MASplayer
The MASplayer which we distribute since early this month already sells well. Happily our customers are not dumb, so we received some suggestions on additional possible use of the MASplayer:
  • MPEG-Movie-Player could surrender playing of sound completely to the MAS and thereby would have to deal almost only with playing the movie.
  • Internet-Phone would be possible with acceptable speed and quality also on Amigas.
  • Internet-Radio via MASplayer is already under construction.
Interested software authors can contact us via e-mail to eternity@pride.de. We heavily support developers.

Free co-workers wanted:
Eternity Hard- & Software is looking for a free co-worker who would independent deal with project coordination around Eternity´s activities. Good knowledge of English (speaking and writing) are advantageous. Interested people would contact eternity@pride.de, please. (ps)

MPF: Information Appliances
At the Microprocessor Forum 2000 in San Jose, USA, an all day opening lecture on the subject information appliances took place given by Steve Leibson, chief analyser of MicroDesign Resources and chief editor of the microprocessor report.

After main-frames, mini-computer, micro-computers, and PCs the fifth computer generation comes into public view by the IAs. Appliances of this generation distinguish on application oriented design. Meaning design and functionality of these appliances is styled for one application, e.g. in the case of web-pads on the internet or in case of game consoles on easy gaming using your TV-set. This causes self describing operation and hence easy use of this appliances.

The article (German) on tecchannel.de summarizes the lecture in view of types of appliances, Connectivity (Bluetooth, IrDA, etc.), processors, as well as displays, and gives a result at the end of the article. This result complains about that manufacturers tend to implement too much features in their initial IAs. By this operation again becomes complicated, and prices increase which automates failure, according to Steve Leibson. (sd)

Milan Computer
Statement on Milan II
Even other systems (in this case Atari user) have to face disappointments. Milan II was put on hold. One now wants to make the operating system Atari-TOS (incl. MagiC) hardware independent by means of Linux. Then programs will be coded for one time and will run everywhere, which sure appears to be well known to Amiga users. Here some extract from the statement by Milan Computer, which is to read as full length (German) at the title link:

«Perspectives today are good on the one hand, and disappointing on the other hand: The Milan II was put on hold. Month of work eating thousands of Deutsch Marks disappeared as well as the hope of many Atari users to have their own and fast Milan II soon. This is primary to assign to technical difficulty. Moreover trying to find venture capital companies from Germany to increase fund remarkable over month failed. In this country at this time primary internet buildings in the air are supported and created, building fictitious million value from scratch to crash down as fast as it raised most of the time. One of the realy seldom companies able to offer their own small operating system provided with much of software unfortunately bears the big risc for the investors to provoke costs by matter manufacturing (main boards, etc.).

But this does not mean the end of the project, at all. Milan-Computersystems will continue to offer the Milan I with 040 processor to all of the people wanting a Milan today. And also the upgrade board to the 060 processor is still available and stable in the meantime. In fact there is nothing in the way to a Milan with 060 processor at this time.

Now the step which will be taken is to look towards Milan III. Therefore at this time there are two scenarios to choose from all of them banking on that the Milan-TOS (and with it the addon MagiC-Milan) to be able to be nearly hardware independent soon.
  • A. One elects a Linux kernel adaptation to e.g. AMD hardware (Athlon, Duron) and standard board peripheral equipment. Along with this a board will be chosen which just has to be imported in this country. If requirement like a big flash eprom are fulfilled this can be a TOS basing computer as before starting directly from chip. Performance with this solution would increase proportional to the used processor and with a 400MHz would have a much higher performance than a 060 processor.
  • B. One uses a (in case of need own) PPC G3/G4 board which is more close to the 68060 processor, so that from 350 MHz more than double performance would be gained.
To make TOS running on these processors an 68k interpreter will be integrated, in difference from a Windows or MacOS emulation running independent native making high performance possible.» (ps)

AMI Sector One
AMI Sector One Extended
Welcome to another update of AMI Sector One. Today there is something of interest for both emulator fans and Amiga users. But first of all let us begin with the new features written by Bernd:
Microdeal - A resume: This article is about the hardware and software company Microdeal which disappeared in 199?.
Amiga Games vs. Amiga Joker: Here I compare two issues of these popular Amiga games related magazines.

The update continues with the new games Tanglewood (thanks to the author Ian Murray-Watson who allowed us to upload it), Tie-Break (thanks to the author Andreas Seebeck), Wrath of Gwendor and the request Wizzy's Quest (English version). Besides the ADF of Wikinger 2 has been fixed (thanks to Hubert Maier jr. for repairing it).

Users of real Amiga computers will hopefully appreciate the following HD versions which have been added today: F/A 18 Interceptor HD, Lethal Xcess HD, Sword of Sodan HD. Most of these HD versions require an installed version of WHDLoad.

There are also some new scans of Amiga games: Advanced Destroyer Simulation, Cosmo Ranger, Outrun, Peter Beardsley's Internat. Football, Pyramax, Quartz, Raider, Renaissance, Revelation, S.E.U.C.K., Space Gun, Speed Ball, Tie-Break, Titan, Treasure Trap, Triango, Turrican, UN Squadron, Way of the little Dragon, XCopy. Thanks to the contributors Peter and Raffaele.

I have also added some new tunes of games: View the new additions by clicking here. Finally I have also added information to another 280 Amiga games. You can access the information by clicking here. I hope you enjoyed today´s small update. AMI Sector One will soon be back with some great news. (sd)

VMC-ISDN V3 Beta89 now including Mac-FreePPP Support
Harald Frank wrote:
After many days of hard work and several hundred dial-in tests, we are able to offer an improved version of VMC-ISDN, which from the current version works with all Mac FreePPP versions without problems.

VMC-ISDN is now the only ISDN card software for AmigaOS allowing the Apple Macintosh emulators Shapeshifter of Fusion to build internet connections directly via ISDN and Sync-PPP. None of the currently available Amiga ISDN card drivers offers such an option, but often have such fatal errors in the protocols that make user-friendly operation impossible.

First tests showed that internet banking, requiring Java, can now be utilized with your Amiga using an ISDN card and a Mac emulator like ShapeShifter or Fusion, installing NetscapeNavigator or the InternetExplorer on your virtual Mac. Yes, the Amiga can do Java... ;)

"Exodus - The Last War" and Appeal regarding a New Game
At the moment there were four different versions of "Exodus - The Last War" released : a polish, a german, an english, and a french one. Soon the Czech version will be available for download.

APPEAL

There are plans for developing another game; code name "Husaria". In Polish this means a kind of heavy cavalry, soldiers specialized for fast attacks, which were noted for their victories particulary during the 17th century. For example King Jan III Sobieski who has supported Austria against Turkey in the battle near Vienna.

For this new project the programmers are looking for the following things:
  • Maps of Europe from 16th and 17th century.
  • Fotos of castles, palaces and buildings used for economic purposes of the above mentioned centuries.
  • Fotos or pictures of armours and weapons of this time.
If possible, we need pictures of all 4 walls of the buildings, because we need this for making 3d-models out of them. It would be nice if you could tell us the name of the e.g. castle, and maybe send us a little map showing the location.

If you would like to help us, you can send your material via email to darexodus@poczta.onet.pl. (ps)

Apple: Decreasig Market Value
Financial Time Germany: "Apple: Different problems than the rest of the PC branch"
«From surprised to outraged was the reaction of financial analysts on the reduced profit forecast of the US computer manufacturer Apple. Several influential banks changed their bargain recommendation for Apple shares into warnings on weekend. Admittedly some of the banks mentioned Apple´s problems not to be typical for the branch.

Surprisingly Apple reduced their profit forecast for all business units on Thursday. The Apple market lost 52% of value, almost 9 milliards USD of market value were lost.» (ps)

Shoutcast/Icecast Client Released for the Amiga

StrAmi allows you to fetch these audio files from any server and listen to them in real time.

This way, you can very easily listen to radio via internet. The program has a MUI interface and requires nothing more than a TCP/IP stack like Miami or AmiTCP and of course a fast internet access. You'll find lists of servers at www.shoutcast.com and www.icecast.org.

A.C.T. Stops Amiga Sponsoring
From the end of October 2000 A.C.T. and the co-operating ISP will stop all sponsoring actions for the Amiga area. This will also concern every sites hosted at "amiga-software.com". Single developers or groups who are sponsored up to now have already been contacted via e-mail, but many of the addresses don´t seem to work any more or the people are no longer interested in Amiga.

Hence A.C.T. asks all web admins whose sites are sponsored or hosted by A.C.T. to move these sites to another provider by the end of October 2000.

For some of the sites - among them amigasystem.org - the web admins are looking for successors, because otherwise these sites would be canceled outright. Also concerned by the sponsoring stop is the hardware and software sponsoring: from now on A.C.T. will not deliver hardware or software products for free to "up-coming projects" or similar. (ps)

The AmiWolfenDoom homepage has moved and is now available at www.antibyte.de (titlelink). Robert Wahnsiedler is still on the hunt for a person that is able to modify the ADoom-engine for making Ninja-, Simpson and Batman-Doom possible. According to the downloadrates of AmiWolfenDoom the interest of the users is very high.

For the modifycations you must have C/Assembler skills and you have to read the docs. There are no major changes to make but the DEH support must be revisde (patch of the internal graphic/sound/textroutines by using a Ascii-file with commands). For example there is no recognition of text. This causes games that use these kind of functions to crash.

appeal
Furthermore Robert Wahnsiedler is looking for someone who is willing to modify the game Imperium Terranum II for the Amiga community. The sourcecode is public available and there is an absolutely resourceful StarTrek addon available. The main problem is that it does not run very good on graphics boards, the only way is to use a tool like NewMode, but this is a not very stable solution. If you are interested, please contact Robert Wahnsiedler. (ps)

On the good note this version is slightly faster, especially the PPC version! ;) (Note, WarpOS still has problems .. this is most likely either ppclibemu or WarpOS's fault since it works fine with PowerUP and MorphOS) From now on the 060 and PPC version use LAME's internal mpglib for decoding, so if you still want to use mpega.library (which is much faster), use the 040 version...

Since October 1st, 2000 Eternity took over the distribution of the MAS-Player in cooperation with Dirk Conrad. The MAS-Player is a hardware MP3-player that can be used with every Amiga parallel interface. A techpage will follow. Eternity will ask Thomas Wenzel if he would support the MAS-Player with his AmigaAmp. Eternity will offer a 6 month guarantee.

Examples of Usage:
  • Amiga 4000/A1200 with MAS-Player. Listen to MP3-music without using the PPC or 68k processor. Your processor is available for other tasks
  • Amiga CDTV with MAS-Player could play MP3´s directly from CD.
  • Amiga 500/600 with MAS-Player could be a replacement for your hifi-radio. The integrated MP3-player-software uses PAL. There for you can use a TV.
